Federal Agencies Session
The Federal Agencies Listening Session set the stage for a more focused engagement to coalesce on a path forward to align various initiatives towards the common goal of data integration. Discussion included topics such as: vetting requirements of federal agency data, non-disclosable data (e.g. geocoordinates of endangered species), requirements of biosecurity units to enable data access while remaining secure, and reporting requirements for biodiversity beyond national jurisdictions (opportunity to set-up standard templates).
A pre-listening session discussion was held at the Interagency Working Group on Scientific Collections (IWGSC) meeting on May 16, 2024.
The discussion during the listening session on June 14 focused on the following questions:
- How could the integration of federal agency data with other data sources advance your agency’s mission?
- What are the greatest challenges and needs for integrating data from your agency?
- Are there existing conceptual frameworks for integrating data within your agency?
- How would you approach aligning your goals with other frameworks, such as the Extended Specimen Network?
- What are evident areas to make progress, considering resource trade-offs, in the immediate, short-, and long-term?
- What do you view as the best path for data integration?
- What other stakeholders or domains need to be part of this effort?

I would like to attend the zoom call. My supervisor said that I need to register but I don’t see where or how to do that.
